Hello Everyone,
I bookmarked three blogs, described
below, and was successful in making a thoughtful contribution to
the first
blog that I bookmarked: The Writers Gateway – Let’s talk Instructional
Design:
I like this blog for many
reasons. I like the author’s (Rupa
Rajagopalan) easy to read pages.
Navigating the blog is straightforward, with Home, About Me, Begin Here
and Reach Me on the navigation menu. I understand that text is used rather than
an image in the header as it may slightly speed up access the blog and assist the search engines.
I also like his first page because
he shows an eye-catching instructional video that he really likes. Rupa tells his reader some highlights
that make it a good video including it has a storyline, has humor and focuses
on real life situations.
Also on the first page is an item
titled: My First Impressions of Articulate Storyline. He states that he has been playing with it and its best
aspect is that the “Try Me Simulations” are automated. Rupa draws the reader into his work as
he is learning new software and activities and is OK with saying there are still
“things he is trying to figure out.”.
This blog has a “New to this
Blog? Start Here” link on the right navigation. It was placed well to get my attention. The link took me to
a Begin Here! page on which the Author provided great links categorized under
various topics. Some of the topics include:
·
Instructional
Design Process/Concepts
·
Instructional
Design-Job, Role and Responsibilities
·
E-Learning
Examples
·
Instructional
Design Tips & Tricks
Rupa’s blog will be an ongoing resource so I
can see if he has added more topics and links about ID.
The second blog that I bookmarked was Upside Learning Blog.
The writer, Amit Garg, has a
navigation bar that includes Company, Solutions and Services, Resources, Demos
and Blog. He is well into ID as a
business. I like reading his blog
as it has posts summarized by topic that include a short paragraph, and then
has a Continue Reading link to see additional content. Some topics on this page:
·
Best of 2012 – Compilation
of the 50 best eLearning post of 2012 from his blog;
·
What L&D
Professional Should Know about Tin Can API – Amit wants to understand as much
as he can about this tool as it could change the paradigm of workplace
learning, tracking and recording learner data outside of the traditional elearning
environment. (This is very interesting to me as I have played the role of LMS
Administrator for my organization)
When I first arrived on the
page, I landed on the “30 Top Online Resources for Instructional Designers to
Keep up With”. I am looking
forward to reviewing all blogs and websites that he lists so I can create a
better learning environment for staff in my organization. As it happens, The
Writers Gateway is number 29 on his list!
This blog will be an ongoing resource by providing many topics related to running
an ID business. I can learn from what
he thinks is important in ID and creating great elearning.
The third blog that I bookmarked was Cathy Moore’s.
First of all I like her
mission as stated in the tag line “Let’s save the world from boring elearning.”
I like her dynamic home page with concise content paragraphs matched with good
pictures and graphics. This helps
me engage each subject. This blog will be a resource as I learn from her
colorful and exciting combination of written word, graphics and design.
